Celebrating International Yoga Day in London with Manavata: A Call for Healthy, Harmonious Living

London, June 21st, 2025 – This year’s International Yoga Day celebration in London was a powerful blend of tradition, science, and sustainability, organized by Manavata, a global humanitarian organization founded by Sri Srinivas Chowdary. The event brought together hundreds of participants to explore the theme of “Holistic Wellness through Yoga and Natural Living.”

The morning began with collective yoga sessions in the serene open air, followed by a deeply insightful keynote address by Srinivas Chowdary, who emphasized yoga as a lifestyle rather than a mere physical exercise. “Yoga is the science of inner well-being. It brings clarity to our thoughts, discipline to our habits, and compassion to our actions,” he said. With decades of humanitarian work and health advocacy behind him, Srinivas inspired the audience to adopt selfless service, balanced living, and regular yoga practice for a healthier world.

A major highlight of the event was the talk by Dr. Khadar Valli, popularly known as the “Millet Man of India.” With his signature blend of scientific insight and traditional wisdom, Dr. Valli spoke about the importance of millet-based diets for reversing lifestyle diseases, improving gut health, and promoting sustainable agriculture.

“Your food is your first medicine,” he reminded the crowd. “Millets are not only nutrition-dense but also water-efficient crops. By choosing millets, you care for your body and the planet.”

He also provided practical tips on incorporating positive lifestyle changes—such as seasonal eating, detox routines, and the use of traditional grains—in daily life to combat issues like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension.

Topics Covered

The event touched on several key themes:

  • Yoga as a path to mental clarity and spiritual growth

  • The power of food in disease prevention and healing

  • Natural living practices for sustainable health

  • Community service and humanitarian values

  • Conscious parenting and youth empowerment through yoga

Participants also enjoyed live demonstrations, health screenings, organic food sampling, and a millet-based lunch curated by Manavata volunteers.

The Spirit of Manavata

Founded by Srinivas Chowdary, Manavata has long been a champion of holistic development, humanitarian aid, and environmental sustainability. With chapters across continents, the organization continues to inspire youth, support health initiatives, and spread the message of simple living and high thinking.

As the day concluded with a silent meditation, many left the venue not just rejuvenated but deeply moved. The blend of ancient yogic wisdom and modern health science offered a compelling blueprint for anyone seeking a balanced, meaningful, and health-conscious life.
